This is Alan Wu from Office forum support and I am very glad to assist you for your case here. And, via the synchronization between OWA and the Outlook client, the online Archive mailbox should be able to be viewed in the Outlook client.
Under the current situation, I suggest you try the following methods to see if the online Archive mailbox can be viewed in your Outlook client. If the issue can't be resolved via the above mentioned 2 methods, please provide the following information so that we can move forward.
So, I'd like to know how you installed the Outlook client. Please be noted that Office online Archive mailbox can be only viewed in the Office for Business related Plans' Outlook edition.

You can refer to the following article to check whether your Outlook version meet the Outlook license requirements for In-Place Archive. And you can also try to install the Office suite with your Office for business E3 subscription to have a try. If the issue persists, please follow the steps below to test the E-mail AutoConfiguration:.
You can also try to do an online repair for your Office programs and see if it helps. Online archive mailbox can be shown in Outlook which is downloaded as a part of Office suite. Have you tried to download the Outlook using your E3 account? Or you can also try to re-enable the online archive mailbox and check if the issue persists. Note: If you re-enable the archive more than 30 days after disabling it, the contents of the original archive mailbox are permanently deleted and can't be recovered.
Thank you for the response, but I was unclear when I wrote earlier I meant the purchased versions of Office as opposed to the O subscription software do not have this feature.
Which feels very arbitrary and decreases the value of my online archiving subscription for me. I will only have access to the E3 plan for a few more months, and do not wish to have to uninstall my purchased copy, install the E3 version, and then repeat the process again next year and lose the feature I care about. I just find it annoying to have to login to my Microsoft account on the web each time I need to find an older email, especially since I have 11 Microsoft accounts so checking an email in one means losing what I'm doing in one of the others.

I also have a separate Office E3 license that does include the desktop applications, but I've continued to use my own purchased license with both Office accounts. Is this because of the version of Outlook I have installed? Can I use my Office E3 license to install the right version of Outlook without having to uninstall the rest of my desktop Office programs? In reply to ReidR's post on August 3, If the issue persists, please follow the steps below to test the E-mail AutoConfiguration: Start Outlook, and then hold down the Ctrl key while you right-click the Microsoft Outlook icon in the notification area.
Select Test E-mail AutoConfiguration. When the test is finished, review the contents on the XML tab. Check whether the online archive mailbox value is contained in the AlternativeMailbox tag.
Regards, Huni. If I understand the chart correctly, none of the desktop versions of Office allow for viewing the online archive. You have to buy Outlook separately, instead of part of an Office purchase.
Microsoft's licensing restrictions continue to not make sense to me, especially considering the fact that I'm explicitly paying for the online archive feature within Office , yet can not access that archive in my purchased version of Outlook.
